Embracing the Slow Journey on Medium: A Personal Reflection

Chapter 1: The Journey Begins
When I first ventured into writing on Medium, I was unsure of what to express. During a stroll in my neighborhood, the thought struck me: “This is my first step into Medium!” It felt akin to releasing delicate paper boats, hoping they would navigate smoothly across the waters, rather than sinking immediately.
Initially, I was preoccupied with monitoring my statistics, checking my views, claps, and comments every few minutes. This obsession was exhausting. Eventually, I recognized that fixating on numbers only generated unnecessary pressure, negatively impacting my creativity. Thus, I made the conscious decision to let go of this fixation.
Now, my purpose is clear: to write, evolve, and engage with like-minded individuals such as you. I understand that not everyone reads every word, so I genuinely appreciate your support.
I've noticed several fellow writers in my comments section asking me to check out their pieces, hoping for quick visibility. However, I’m afraid that won’t happen here.
I've come to realize that genuine growth, particularly on a platform like Medium, is a gradual process. Building an authentic audience takes time, and hurrying through it often leads to burnout.
I’m grateful to have encountered many wonderful individuals here. Their presence brings me joy, especially in a world filled with insincerity. I value the time they invest in reading my stories thoroughly, leaving thoughtful comments that inspire me.
Thank you, to all who take the time to engage with my work: Dr. James Smith, Hannah H, Erica L Soerensen, Paul Dotta, Leila Nk, Anthony Xavier, MaezAkhtar, younghock2, Collins Eneh, Sompa Mensah, WHAT'S NEW, Niz, Anthony R.???, Josh Mark, S ESOOF SIDDIQ, Barbara J. I could continue to list names as I make new friends daily.
There have been times when I felt like giving up, experiencing long stretches where it seemed like nothing was progressing. Those moments can indeed be disheartening.
Yet, I remind myself that true success isn’t about immediate results; it’s about consistently showing up, taking it one day at a time, and having faith in the journey.
So here I am, writing daily. Slowly but surely, because I believe that genuine growth and good writing cannot be rushed.
Thank you for taking the time to read!
