# Discovering Grace Through Writing and Running

Chapter 1: The Intersection of Writing and Running
In both writing and running, I’ve discovered a sense of Grace. Recently, I received support from a parent whose child has participated in my running boot camp. Although we took a break over the summer, I’m eager to restart the program soon. My wife initiated it a few years back, and as she coaches tennis, I’ve taken the reins since running is my greatest passion. I’m dedicated to inspiring both kids and adults in this pursuit.
When I speak of Grace, I truly mean it. During my runs—before and after—I experience a deep sense of tranquility. This feeling is both profound and spiritual. I feel joy and gratitude, alongside a complete acceptance of every aspect of my life, both positive and negative. My heart, regardless of its rapid or slow tempo, is my steadfast companion. I run daily, and amidst life’s stresses, there exists a moment each day where I find immense peace.
Writing, while distinct from running, has been an exhilarating journey. I began my writing on Medium last October following a significant personal achievement—my first marathon completed in under three hours. This inspired me to explore the power of habit through my writing, leading me to commit to daily writing without looking back.
Strange and wonderful things have emerged from my writing endeavors. Initially, I kept my blog a secret, sharing it with no one—friends or family. Yet, I found that strangers began to read my work. Fellow runners I had never met would approach me, sharing how my stories on Medium resonated with them. Even clients for my consulting projects mentioned reading my pieces, and during job interviews, my Medium writings surfaced, revealing themselves to potential employers. This exposure feels a bit awkward; I often grapple with feelings of vulnerability. Although I cherish writing, I prefer to maintain a clear boundary between this passion and my professional life. What began as a quiet hobby has become more visible than I ever intended. Some of my writing shines, while other pieces fall flat. Yet, the unexpected attention from others has been both surprising and humbling. Many express that they find authenticity in my work, which I believe is genuine appreciation rather than mere flattery.
It seems that when you truly love what you do, positive outcomes follow—though not necessarily right away. Unlikely opportunities arise, and everything seems to fall into place. That is Grace.
