Chapter 1: The Power of Conciseness

Have you ever wondered if conciseness really matters in platforms like Medium?


In hindsight, I shouldn't feel drained. After all, I dedicated four years to my dissertation, while the average article here requires about an hour to compose. We’re definitely talking about two extremes, aren’t we? So, what’s the point of the title?

I'm glad you asked!

The concept of conciseness was introduced to me by my mentor, who, ironically, was not the epitome of brevity himself! He didn't mean conciseness in a strict sense; rather, he encouraged me to leave a significant impression with my writing. He wanted my dissertation to carry weight and meaning.

It wasn't about saying less; it was about writing more meaningfully. My initial dissertation stretched over 125,000 words (double-spaced), but I managed to trim it down to 50,000 words. That’s a reduction of 75,000 words!

That’s the essence of conciseness!

Though I believed I had much to convey on the topic—feel free to read my original work here—I learned that I could express more with fewer words. Yes, that’s conciseness for you!

Here’s a fun fact: my exploration of this topic resulted in ten segments! I know, I know—conciseness in action!

But the evidence speaks for itself.


A year and a half ago, my writing income was nonexistent! Even my books were not generating any revenue. And then, everything changed!

I stumbled upon Medium, and now I couldn’t be happier!
