Unlocking the Transformative Power of Writing: A Personal Journey
Written on
Chapter 1: The Writing Habit
When I embarked on a regular writing journey on Medium, my mother commented, “You’re finally on the right path. You used to jot down notes and create schedules during school, but applying those plans was a challenge.” I held onto my writing routine and improved my execution skills. Had I not maintained this habit, I may never have taken action on my ideas.
The initial step toward achieving any goal, be it personal or professional, is documenting it in writing. Writing, being inherently slower than reading or speaking, holds significant influence. In truth, we all have been writers since our school days, yet many of us gradually abandon this impactful practice. Writing has been my unwavering companion throughout my life. Allow me to share my passion for it.
(At the conclusion of this piece, I’ll provide my writing routine and the tools that inspire my creativity. If my journey sparks your interest in writing, it would truly bring me joy.)
Section 1.1: Clarity of Thoughts
Whenever something troubles me or I’m faced with a problem—sometimes even when I’m not—I take the time to write down my thoughts. Writing serves as a dialogue with myself, often leading me to find solutions. The simple act of articulating a problem can sometimes be the resolution itself.
After a writing session, I invariably feel uplifted. If I’m feeling down, writing acts as a balm. I once heard that knowing your goal is half the battle won, and writing it down accounts for 80% of the victory.
Section 1.2: Fostering Creativity
In the past, I have ventured into YouTube and coding. Both fields depend heavily on effective written content. The essence of a YouTube video lies in the script crafted before filming; shooting and editing are mere afterthoughts, while the message conveyed is rooted in what you write.
Similarly, a proficient coder must elucidate their code with comments (//). This practice is vital because, when revisiting your code, you may forget the reasoning behind certain lines. Additionally, effective collaboration necessitates that others grasp the purpose and logic behind your coding choices. Across all professions, strong writing skills are invaluable.
Chapter 2: The Role of Storage and Retrieval
Life often presents us with recurring challenges, and when faced with similar situations, having documented solutions can be beneficial. Reflecting on past journals may lead to moments of self-amusement—“How naive I was!”—which is a sign of personal growth.
I resonate with the saying: "Writing enables you to relive an emotion twice—first in the moment and then again through the written word."
Chapter 3: My Writing Schedule and Tools
Each morning, I begin by jotting down my thoughts, igniting my creativity and generating ideas for my content. I keep a bedtime journal, aiming for five writing sessions a week. This practice clears my mind before sleep and sets a positive tone for the following day.
