# The Importance of Patience in Building Systems and Achieving Goals

Written on

Chapter 1: Recognizing Our Needs

It often seems simpler to identify what others should improve than to acknowledge our own areas for growth. Constructing a system demands significant time and dedication—much like writing a novel, publishing a book, or growing an audience on YouTube or through a podcast. Each endeavor requires time, and at times, the pace can feel painfully slow.

For years, I have advocated for patience, yet the end goal often appears distant. I've achieved the coveted orange best-seller tags, but my journey feels like a series of ups and downs. I’ve explored new marketing strategies and shared insights, yet hiring someone for these tasks often feels unnecessary. Although I’ve educated myself on the latest technology, the lack of industry credentials means selling my knowledge is a slow process, diverting my focus from writing and explaining my ideas.

Moreover, the unending list of household tasks continues to grow, stealing precious moments from my day. For instance, creating a Shopify store has been lingering on my to-do list for months, and I have a course on Kajabi just waiting to be launched. Did you know I have twenty-four titles ready to promote this course? Additionally, I have seventeen novels queued up on my laptop, all pending due to minor obstacles. These obstacles are often overshadowed by the demands of family life and daily chores.

Despite my efforts to concentrate and fend off distractions, my mind feels cluttered. I’ve cultivated a talent for generating ideas, and when I focus on a single task, it paves the way for creativity to flow freely—ideas not only for stories but also for addressing larger global issues. For instance, I’ve been researching the events of 1982 to anticipate future challenges related to food shortages, prices, and political shifts. (Hint: Consider planting potatoes and tomatoes!)

Right now, I am aware of the whirlwind of thoughts in my head, filled with both potential and the frustration of slow progress. The virtue of patience often feels more like an obstacle than a gift. However, I remind myself of the saying: "When the student is ready, the teacher appears." Often, this insight comes through a brief video that offers just enough motivation to keep pushing forward.

"Enjoy the process, not the outcome."

Reflecting on the multitude of words I write daily across various genres and platforms, I realize that I genuinely enjoy the journey of writing, creating, and problem-solving. I cherish the process of learning new concepts and integrating them into traditional frameworks, transforming "what was" into "what could be" for a better tomorrow. (Imagine if everyone had chickens and gardens—think of the bounty of eggs and vegetables!)

My passion for technology stems from childhood dreams of high-speed bikes and flying cars in a vibrant world filled with opportunity. Instead, we face a political landscape divided by two parties, driven by greed and lobbying. We are confronted with the realities of pestilence, famine, war, and death.

We have leaders who often disregard the wisdom of those who are better informed and trained to create positive change. Perhaps this mirrors the writing process—just be patient. Much like planting a tree, we don’t expect shade immediately.

So, what happens when our patience begins to wear thin?

Cheers,

Chris
