Finding Tranquility: Embracing Solitude and Self-Compassion
Written on
Chapter 1: The Joy of Solitude
Today, I want to reflect on the duality of my feelings: I find joy in my own company and am grateful for moments of solitude. It's a curious contradiction, isn’t it? For years, I believed I couldn't feel both simultaneously. I often resisted family activities and declined invitations to friends' homes. In fact, if I had owned my own space at a young age, I would have relished the chance to shut everyone out and immerse myself in books.
As we mature, we can easily lose sight of our true selves, often influenced by peers. However, I take pride in having rediscovered my personal journey and am relishing the tranquility of solitude. It’s a serene environment free from haste and judgment, and I intend to maintain this peaceful atmosphere.
Section 1.1: Embracing Loneliness
I must confess, I tend to shy away from seeking comfort or assistance when I need it. For a long time, I felt ashamed for even considering reaching out. I believed I had to rely solely on myself, dismissing any possibility of support.
Now, as I heal and continue on my journey, I understand that desiring a hug or a comforting presence is not a sign of weakness. It doesn’t reflect inadequacy to ask for help. When loneliness strikes, I let myself experience it for a while and acknowledge my growth in accepting that seeking comfort is beneficial.
